What happens when the water disappears? In her photo book Tierra sin Agua (Land without Water), Ana Rodríguez Heinlein examines the multi-layered contexts of the water crisis in Spain. Key themes include water culture, agriculture, disrupted ecosystems, and habitats.
Nearly every year, new heat and drought records are broken, leading to severe water issues in Spain. The water crisis is evident in crop failures, empty reservoirs, and vanishing lagoons. While human-induced climate change plays a significant role, the problem is more complex and closely linked to Spain’s cultural understanding of water.
